GameBoy Book Reader
Overview
[Last Modified:26 Aug 2002]

GameBoy Book Reader allows you to make a text file into a book which you can read on the GameBoy or GameBoy Advance. You need to program the .GB or .GBA file produced onto a suitable FLASH memory cartridge.

The text files can be in many different languages, most East and West European languages, Scandinavian languages, Korean, Japanese, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.

The program includes fonts for 8, 12 and 16 high pixel characters. Unicode is used as a storage system so that each font potentially covers all the languages. A font editor is included to allow you to modify the fonts or create your own. While editing a subset of characters from a selected 'codepage' is presented to assist with editing only the characters of interest.

Makebook will export books for the GameBoy, or for the GameBoy Advance.

The GameBoy books offer a basic capability, with the ability to include monochrome bitmaps.

The Advance versions allow more features such as:

  • Colour Pictures
  • Hyperlinks
  • Multiple Bookmarks
