General Description

AD550 is part of a family of standard adapters conforming entirely to Hitachi specifications.

Important Note

The H8/3048F microprocessor has a programming algorithm similar to but not identical to the Hitachi 28F101. As a result most programmers which can program the 28F101 can easily be set by their manufacturers to program this micro part. However this will require the microprocessor part to be selected in the programmer's device menu, not the 28F101. The MQP programmers mentioned above have a suitable algorithm setting. Using another manufacturers programmer with this Hitachi micro will depend on getting a software update from that manufacturer covering this part.

Instructions for Use (System 2000):

  1. Select device type Hitachi 28F101 on programmer.
  2. IMPORTANT: Disable ID checking on programmer to prevent damage to A9 pin on micro. (This device does not have a silicon signature.)
  3. Set Access Time to 'Slow' (FUNC, DEVICE, ->, Tacc)
  4. Insert AD550 in programmer sockets as appropriate.
  5. Program as normal.
  6. To avoid activating reset circuit, do not verify below Vcc = 3.75V.

Instructions for Use (Pin-Master 48):

  1. Select device type Hitachi HD64F3048 on programmer.
  2. Insert AD550 in programmer socket.
  3. Program as normal.
  4. To avoid activating reset circuit, do not verify below Vcc = 3.75V

Instructions for Use (3rd Party Programmers):

  1. Select device type Hitachi HD64F3048 on programmer.
  2. IMPORTANT: Ensure that ID checking on programmer is disabled to prevent damage to A9 pin on micro. (This device does not have a silicon signature.)
  3. Ensure that address range is set to 00000-1FFFF.
  4. Insert AD550 in programmer socket as appropriate.
  5. Program as normal.
  6. To avoid activating reset circuit, do not verify below Vcc = 3.75V
  7. Note: the adapter has a power on reset time of approx 70ms. The programmer must allow for this.

The above precautions would be automatically met on most programmers by setting device type HD64F3048. The information is given to assist manufacturers of third-party programmers.
